We are a small, highly specialised and dedicated insurance advisory service. We act exclusively for multilaterals, export credit agencies, development funding institutions and commercial banks providing senior debt products structured finance transactions.

We are free from any conflict of interest whatsoever and will not accept mandates unless on behalf of senior debt or their guarantors. We only receive fees from and act for, or on behalf of, financial institutions guaranteeing or providing senior debt, to whom we owe an exclusive duty of care. We do not act for governments, public authorities, sponsors, contractors or any other entity, unless they are providing senior debt.

We draw on direct personal experience as dedicated lenders’ insurance advisers (LIA) on more than 400 mandates to financial close, across almost all sectors, but now restrict our offering to two main areas:

  1. the energy sector with a preference for clean technologies (primarily offshore wind but also onshore wind, solar and bio-energy) and;
  2. the space (telecommunications and earth observation satellite) sectors.

In the offshore wind and space sectors we hold – by far – the global leading credentials for lenders’ insurance advisory (LIA) mandates. We hold extremely strong credentials in the power sector, particularly in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. We were honoured to be named winner of the IJ Global Awards 2015, ‘Best Due Diligence Adviser – Europe & Africa.’

Martin Benatar, BA, ACII, CIP
Managing Consultant

With over 30 years experience in the insurance sector, Martin has personally acted as a dedicated Lenders’ Insurance Adviser on more than 250 separate mandates across many sectors (conventional and renewable power, transportation infrastructure, waste, energy, industrials, telecoms, PFI/PPP) primarily in Europe and the Middle East but also globally over the last 20 years. Following a decade underwriting with an insurance company he moved to undertake a lenders’ insurance advisory role at Sedgwick in 1997 (which became Marsh in 1999), after which he developed the lender advisory business at Miller (between 2002 and 2006) and then ran the lender advisory team at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) before deciding to draw on his unique experience to establish a vehicle free from any possibility of a conflict of interest in order to provide a truly pure lender advisory service.

He has served on a number of market bodies and regularly speaks at conferences, lectures at business schools, participates in symposia for Universities (e.g. a Masters course at Cambridge University) and undertakes seminars for lawyers’ ECAs and project finance teams.

He contributes to journals and publications and co-authored, with Will Fyfe, the insurance chapter of OUP’s International Project Finance Law and Practice, 2011 (first edition) and with Oliver Irwin, the 2015 second edition (ed. John Dewar).
